Disney Infinity 2.0 (also known as Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes) is the ambitious second installment in the toys-to-life franchise, marking the series' debut on the PlayStation 4. This edition significantly expands the ecosystem by introducing over 20 iconic Marvel characters, including the Avengers, Spider-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. By placing physical figurines on the Infinity Base, players can activate original storylines called Play Sets—penned by award-winning comic writer Brian Michael Bendis—or enter the creative sandbox of Toy Box 2.0.
The 2.0 Edition introduces critical mechanical depth with a new Skill Tree system, allowing players to utilize Skill Points to unlock custom abilities, signature moves, and stat boosts for their figurines. To accommodate the scale of the new Marvel worlds, characters can now fly, hover, or climb walls—abilities that are essential for navigating the expanded, vertical environments of Manhattan and Knowhere. The level cap for all characters, including legacy figures from the original game, has been increased from 15 to 20, with all progress saved directly to the physical toy's internal chip.
The revamped Toy Box 2.0 mode features enhanced creator tools, such as "Auto-Creators" and procedurally generated "INteriors," which allow players to quickly build complex cities and dungeons. On the PlayStation 4, the game delivers a superior technical experience compared to previous generations, rendering at a native 1080p resolution with sharper textures and a more stable frame rate. While the title is single-player or two-player co-op in Play Sets, the Toy Box mode supports up to four players in local or online multiplayer sessions.
