Dragon Ball Z: Budokai - GameCube is a 3D fighting game based on the Dragon Ball Z anime, following major battles from the Saiyan Saga through the Cell Games. Players control characters such as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza, and Cell while recreating memorable confrontations from the series through story-driven battles and cinematic sequences.
Combat combines punches, kicks, throws, energy attacks, transformations, and signature techniques such as the Kamehameha. Players can equip characters with Skill Capsules that add special moves, abilities, and stat enhancements, allowing fighters to be customized before battle. In addition to the story-focused mode, the game includes versus battles, tournament competition, and training options for practicing combos and learning each character’s abilities.
Developed by Dimps and published by Atari for the GameCube in 2003, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai was the first entry in the Budokai fighting game series.
