In Drake of the 99 Dragons, you play as a pale, undead assassin on a quest to avenge your murdered clan and recover a stolen artifact that can manipulate souls. Developed by Swedish studio Idol FX, the game was intended to launch a massive multimedia franchise, complete with tie-in comic books. It features a unique visual style described as "rim-light shading," designed to mimic the aesthetic of Batman: The Animated Series.
The gameplay centers on a dual-wielding mechanic where you control each of Drake’s guns independently using the left and right triggers. As a supernatural assassin, you can run up walls, perform slow-motion "Freeze Motion" maneuvers, and absorb the souls of fallen enemies to replenish your health. Despite these ambitious ideas, the game is legendary in the gaming community for being one of the worst-reviewed titles of all time, frequently cited for its "broken" auto-targeting system, stiff animations, and numerous game-breaking glitches.
