In Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, the prehistoric world is thawing, and a massive flood threatens the valley. While the game features the entire "Sub-Zero Hero" cast—Manny, Sid, and Diego—you primarily experience this 3D platforming adventure as Scrat, the acorn-obsessed saber-toothed squirrel. As Scrat, you’ll scurry, climb, and sniff your way through melting glaciers and mud bogs, often performing context-sensitive tasks like playing dead to sneak past predators or solving environmental jump puzzles.
Released as a late port in December 2006, the Wii version is uniquely enhanced with gesture-based motion controls. You can swing the Wii Remote to perform Scrat’s tail-swipe attacks or flick it downward to execute a powerful ground-stomp. While the core platforming remains focused on Scrat, the other characters headline a variety of arcade mini-games: you’ll slide down icy slopes as Sid in a rhythm-based "Sloth Slide" and navigate high-speed chases as Diego. Despite its short length (typically 5–10 hours), the game is praised for its high production values, featuring actual clips and the full celebrity voice cast from the film.
