Custom Robo Arena for Nintendo DS is a fast-paced action RPG that combines real-time robot battles with deep customization and a lighthearted, anime-inspired storyline. As the first Custom Robo title released outside of Japan on a handheld, it brings the core experience of the franchise—building and battling customizable miniature robots—to a new generation of players in an engaging, on-the-go format.
You play as a young Custom Robo enthusiast who joins a local Robo battle club, only to get caught up in a bigger mystery involving illegal battles and a powerful secret organization. As you explore the world, talk to NPCs, and participate in tournaments, you’ll collect new parts and gradually build the ultimate robo to take down your opponents in highly stylized arena battles.
Each Custom Robo is built from interchangeable parts—bodies, guns, bombs, pods, and legs—allowing for endless combinations and strategies. Battles take place in real time within 3D arenas, where positioning, timing, and smart use of abilities are key to victory.
What sets Custom Robo Arena apart is its use of the touch screen for managing parts and navigating menus, and its robust multiplayer support. Players can battle locally via wireless play or test their skills online through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, with full stat tracking and customizable rulesets.
