The story begins when Donkey Kong becomes obsessed with Mini Pauline toys after being turned away at the opening of Super Mini Mario World. In response, he storms the theme park, prompting Mario to pursue him using wind-up Mini Mario toys.
Gameplay centers on guiding the Mini Marios through self-contained stages filled with hazards, switches, moving platforms, and enemies. Rather than controlling Mario directly, players influence the environment to safely lead the Minis to the exit. Timing and planning are essential, as the Mini Marios move automatically and react to obstacles in predictable ways. The Nintendo DS touch screen is used extensively to activate switches, rotate platforms, and manipulate objects, giving the game a tactile, puzzle-focused feel.
