In Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, the creative power of the "Creator" returns to save the world of the Raposa once again. Set some time after the first game, the peace of the village is shattered when the villainous Wilfre returns, kidnapping the mysterious girl Heather and draining the world of its color. You must draw a new Hero and set sail on the Turtle Rock—a massive, village-carrying turtle—to visit distant lands and restore the light.
The gameplay significantly expands on the original's drawing mechanics. While you still draw your own protagonist, you now have access to three distinct forms: a Humanoid for combat, a squishy Blob to fit through tight gaps, and a Spider for wall-crawling. The "Action Draw" tool allows you to sketch platforms and objects directly into the level in real-time to solve puzzles. Beyond the platforming, the game is remembered for its surprisingly mature and emotional story, which culminates in one of the most famous and debated "twist" endings in the DS library.
