In Bad Dudes (known as DragonNinja in Japan), the ultimate 80s action crisis unfolds: President Ronnie has been kidnapped by a clan of ninjas. A mysterious Secret Service agent delivers the most iconic ultimatum in gaming history: "The President has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the President?". You take control of Blade and Striker, two street-smart brawlers in black tank tops, as they fight through waves of "DragonNinjas" across the urban sprawl of Washington D.C. to the villain's hidden base.

The gameplay is a side-scrolling beat 'em up featuring two-tiered levels, allowing you to jump between the ground and elevated platforms like fences or truck roofs. You'll face a variety of foes, from standard blue "intern" ninjas to fire-breathers and aggressive dogs, culminating in a series of memorable boss fights—including a cameo by Karnov, the fire-spitting strongman from his own self-titled Data East game. A quirk of the NES port is its swapped control scheme (A to attack, B to jump), which often catches players off guard compared to other NES classics.
