Featuring Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis on the cover, this entry is widely regarded as one of the greatest in the series for its depth and the introduction of a game-changing mechanic: the Hit Stick. By flicking the right analog stick, defenders can attempt bone-jarring, high-risk tackles that increase the chance of forcing a fumble, though a mistimed hit will leave the defender stumbling and out of the play.
The Xbox version was historically the superior way to play, offering the cleanest visuals with 480p Progressive Scan support and the most immersive audio via Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. It also featured a "Custom Soundtrack" option, allowing you to use music saved on your Xbox hard drive for stadium anthems and menu music.
