In The Two Thrones, Ubisoft Montreal delivers the gritty, cinematic conclusion to the Sands of Time trilogy. After the dark detour of Warrior Within, the Prince returns to a besieged Babylon with the Empress Kaileena, only to find his city in ruins and his past mistakes literally haunting him. The game is famous for introducing the Dark Prince, a cynical alter ego born from the Sands of Time who periodically takes control of the Prince’s body, offering a more brutal, high-stakes playstyle.
The gameplay perfectly balances the "Sands" trilogy's strengths: the intricate platforming of the first game and the refined combat of the second. As the regular Prince, you use the new "Speed Kill" system—a rhythmic stealth mechanic that allows you to take down enemies instantly if you time your dagger strikes with the screen's pulses. As the Dark Prince, you wield the Daggertail, a deadly chain-whip that allows for massive crowd control and unique platforming swings. However, the Dark Prince’s health constantly drains, forcing you to move quickly and kill enemies to harvest their Sand just to stay alive.
