Ape Escape 2 for PlayStation 2 brings back the franchise’s trademark mix of humor, platforming, and gadget-based gameplay with a fresh adventure. This time, players take on the role of Hikaru (known as Jimmy in the English version), who accidentally unleashes hundreds of mischievous monkeys led by the cunning Specter. With the help of Professor and Natalie, Hikaru must travel through a variety of colorful worlds to capture the monkeys and stop Specter’s latest plan for domination.
The game expands on the original’s formula with new gadgets, such as the Water Net and Electro Magnet, alongside fan favorites like the Stun Club and Monkey Net. Each monkey has its own quirky personality, costumes, and behavior, making every capture feel unique and challenging. Levels range from vibrant cityscapes to underwater stages and icy mountains, each filled with secrets, collectibles, and hidden monkeys to discover. With its lighthearted story, creative design, and addictive gameplay loop, Ape Escape 2 on PS2 remains one of the most charming and enjoyable platformers of its generation.
