Conflict: Vietnam for PlayStation 2 is a tactical third-person shooter that places players in the middle of the Vietnam War, offering a gritty and intense experience of jungle warfare. As part of the Conflict series, the game follows a squad of four American soldiers—Ragman, Junior, Hoss, and Cherry—who find themselves stranded behind enemy lines during the infamous Tet Offensive of 1968. Cut off from reinforcements, the squad must fight their way through hostile territory to survive and regroup with U.S. forces.
Gameplay emphasizes squad-based tactics, allowing players to issue commands, switch between characters, and coordinate strategies to overcome ambushes, booby traps, and enemy patrols. The varied environments include dense jungles, rivers, villages, and underground tunnels, each presenting unique challenges. Realistic weapons from the era, such as M16 rifles, M60 machine guns, and grenades, enhance the authenticity of the combat.
