Perfect Dark - Nintendo 64 is a science-fiction first-person shooter that follows secret agent Joanna Dark as she investigates the powerful dataDyne corporation and uncovers a conspiracy involving rival organizations and extraterrestrial forces. Missions send Joanna through corporate offices, secret facilities, urban environments, and alien locations while combining stealth, shooting, gadget use, and objective-based exploration.
Gameplay features a wide selection of futuristic weapons, many with alternate firing modes, along with specialized gadgets used to complete mission objectives. The single-player campaign offers multiple difficulty levels that can change mission requirements, while cooperative and Counter-Operative modes provide alternate ways to experience the story. The Combat Simulator supports local multiplayer for up to four players and includes customizable matches with AI-controlled Simulants. An Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak is required to access the campaign and most of the game’s features.
Developed by Rare and published by Nintendo in 2000, Perfect Dark built on the gameplay foundation established by Rare’s GoldenEye 007 while introducing an original universe and expanded multiplayer options.
