In Power Rangers: Samurai, players take control of the Shiba Clan’s latest generation of warriors to stop the Nighlok monsters from flooding the world with the Sanzu River. Developed by Inti Creates (famed for the Mega Man Zero series), the game is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where you can play as any of the five core Rangers: Jayden (Red), Kevin (Blue), Mia (Pink), Mike (Green), or Emily (Yellow). The narrative follows the show's first season, using still screenshots and voice acting from the original cast to guide you through locations like the Shiba House and bamboo forests.
The gameplay leverages the Wii’s motion controls during interactive morphing sequences, requiring you to swing the Wii Remote to "draw" the Kanji symbols on screen to transform. Combat features a mix of standard melee and signature weapon attacks, like Jayden's Fire Smasher or Kevin's Hydro Bow. Each level ends with a Megazord battle; unlike the ground combat, these are presented as timing-based "quick-time event" (QTE) duels where you must match prompts to land cinematic finishing blows on giant "MegaMonsters".
