Far Cry 2 for Xbox 360 is an open-world first-person shooter that drops players into the heart of a war-torn African nation consumed by civil conflict. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, players assume the role of a hired mercenary tasked with hunting down the notorious international arms dealer known only as "The Jackal." As rival factions battle for control of the region, every decision shapes the journey through one of the most immersive and dynamic worlds of its generation.
Players are free to tackle missions however they choose, using stealth, long-range sniping, explosive assaults, or direct firefights to complete objectives. A wide selection of authentic weapons—including assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers, and improvised explosives—can be purchased, upgraded, and customized. However, weapons deteriorate over time, adding another layer of realism as damaged firearms can jam or even break during combat.
The game's expansive open world features savannas, jungles, deserts, villages, and rivers connected without loading screens. Dynamic weather, realistic fire propagation, and a day-night cycle create unpredictable encounters, while drivable vehicles and boats allow players to explore the environment freely. Along the way, players must also manage recurring bouts of malaria, adding tension and survival elements to the experience.
