Set in the universe of the Paramount Pictures film, the game challenges groups of survivors to outlast massive hordes of hundreds of zombies rendered via the proprietary Swarm Engine. This edition includes all content from the World War Z: GOTY Edition alongside three new story episodes set in Rome, Vatican City, and the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia.
The gameplay introduces a heart-pounding First-Person Mode option, allowing players to experience the carnage from a new perspective. The combat system has been deepened with a brutal new melee system featuring dual-wield weapon options like sickles and cleavers, as well as the addition of the Vanguard class, which utilizes an electrified shield to plow through undead swarms. Players can team up with up to three friends via full cross-play across consoles and PC to tackle campaign missions or survive the relentless Horde Mode XL—a next-gen exclusive mode that features hundreds more zombies on screen than previously possible.
