MechAssault for Xbox is a fast-paced third-person action game set in the legendary BattleTech universe, where towering combat mechs wage war across the stars. Developed by Day 1 Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios, players become an elite BattleMech pilot fighting to liberate the planet Helios from the invading Smoke Jaguar Clan in a campaign filled with explosive battles and large-scale destruction.
Players take control of more than 20 iconic BattleMechs, each with unique weapons, armor, speed, and combat roles. From nimble scout mechs to heavily armored assault machines, every mech offers a different playstyle as players unleash lasers, missiles, autocannons, PPCs, and other devastating weapons against enemy forces.
Battlefields feature fully destructible environments, allowing players to demolish buildings, flatten city blocks, and use the terrain to gain tactical advantages during combat. The campaign includes a variety of mission objectives, including defending allied forces, escorting convoys, destroying enemy installations, and engaging in massive mech-versus-mech battles.
MechAssault was also one of the original Xbox Live showcase titles, offering online multiplayer where players could battle friends in team-based and free-for-all matches.
