In Wii Fit Plus, Nintendo refined the global fitness phenomenon into a more complete, user-friendly package that functions as both an expansion and a standalone sequel. Released in 2009, it contains all the activities from the original Wii Fit—including the iconic Hula Hoop and Ski Jump—while adding 15 new "Training Plus" activities and six additional Yoga and Strength exercises. The game focuses on "lifestyle fitness," encouraging players to step onto the Wii Balance Board daily to track their BMI, center of balance, and "Wii Fit Age".
The gameplay experience is significantly improved by new customization features that allow you to skip the menu-heavy navigation of the first game. You can now create seamless workout routines by stringing exercises together without breaks, or choose specialized "My Wii Fit Plus" routines focused on specific goals like "Toning" or "Stress Reduction". The game also introduces a METs-based calorie counter, which estimates how much energy you’ve burned during each session—even comparing your progress to the caloric value of common foods like pizza or chocolate.
